What is Project Credit Builder?
Don't know what a credit score is? No problem. Worried about building credit before leaving school? Relax, we'll show you how. Project Credit Builder is for college students who don't know where to start when it comes to credit. We'll provide you with the knowledge and advice you need to get things going.
Why should you care about credit?
Whether you know it or not, you've probably gotten used to relying on numbers throughout your lifetime. Phone numbers, prices, passwords, school IDs... the list goes on. And at the top of the list, you'll find your credit score. Once you're financially independent, your credit history will have an impact on many parts of your life. A good credit score can help you get credit cards, home and auto loans, affordable insurance policies, and more. With the right knowledge and the right habits in place, you can build a well-rounded credit profile and gain all the benefits that come with it.
A note from Mina, the creator of PCB
It wasn't until recently when I was constructively criticized for not having my own credit card that I took an interest in credit and how it all works. I was never taught basic financial literacy and, as a college sophomore getting ready to start building credit, I was pretty terrified. I realize that many other college students are probably in the same situation, so I wanted to create something that makes all of our lives easier. Hopefully, PCB can help you on your journey to good credit!
How does PCB work?
Modules
All the information you need to know is divided into modules. Each module has its own unique category that either focuses on a key question or a subcategory of credit. We recommend that you start at the first tile and work your way through, as the tiles are organized so that each module builds on the one before it.
